Amrita or Ambrosia அமிர்தம்

The moon is supposed to be the reservoir of Amrita or Ambrosia (In Greek Mythology it is the Divine food for the Gods), and to furnish the Gods and Manes with the supply.

It is replenished from the Sun during the fortnight of the increase; on the full moon the Gods adore that planet for one night, and from the first day all of them together with the Pitris and Rishis drink one Kala or digit daily until the ambrosia (Amirtha) is exhausted."
(it is stated in Vayu Purana.)

(Excerpts from "Mrichchakati or The Toy Cart)

It is the excerpts of translation from the original Sanscrit by Horace Hayman Wilson, Esq. in 1826)
