வீரம்

வீரமும் ஒரு குணமே! கண்ணியமான வீரமே நல்ல குணமாக கருதப்படுகிறது; முரட்டுத்தனமான வீரம் இதற்கு நேர் எதிர்மாறானது;

Vira is the Rasa of herosim, and heroic magnanimity is evinced in three ways, munificence, clemency and valour - where the later is displayed, it must be calm, collected and dispassionate: any indication of violence belongs to the different taste: the Vira Cheritra affords an example of this Rasa, and the calm intrepidity of its hero presents a very favourable contrast to the fury of a Tydides, or the arrogance of a Rinaldo.
